We had an Airhub Hex (essentially the same tent but without the driveway tunnel to connect to a van). If this is the case we will soon be having a brand new air hub up for sale as I honestly can’t face schlepping another on of those things to Devon to pitch it to not use it. We are now in communications with the people who sold it as obviously right now we would like a refund or a credit note but I think the idea is going to be again Vango collect it and keep it for a couple of months then send us another new unit. Has anyone else had similar experiences or are we just the unluckiest people in the Vango world. One holiday I’d not say ruined but not enjoyed fully sitting with umbrellas inside the air hub, the second holiday again hampered but this time costly as we had to run out to Argos and buy two throw out pop up tents as we needed storage for all our belongings, there wasn’t a better tent unit for 90 miles due to low stock this year.

I don’t know about anyone else but the chillest people in the universe are now a tad fed up with Vango. The explosion so bad it didn’t just blow the plastic spider unit it blew and tore out the material going down the tent.

We put it up this year and have it up for 7 whole nights and the thing explodes like a cannon going off bringing half a campsite running over to our pitch to see we now own a hub hexaway with no air. You’d think this is where the drama ends but sadly noooooo. Vango collected it and took it away kept it for a couple of months then one day out of the blue a new one arrives at our door, no note, no apology, but once again as we are the chillest people in the universe think yay a new unit, September here we come. We were a little annoyed but thought maybe an accident the factory and it missed the waterproofing stage, so hey ho, emails were sent.

We brought a Vango airhub hexaway from the camping and caravan show 2 years ago and off we go all excited to use it and that September we come to find it leaked not just a little basically a river running down the innards of the unit soaking everything in its path. The awning piping on the Lichfield is 6mm and a Fiamma F45s uses 4mm piping so I purchased the Vango DriveAway Kit – 3 Metre Set 4mm – 6mm … please check your own piping size!Īnd of course one of the main functions of the awning is that you can roll up the connecting section and drive away.Heya all, I’m just calling out for some info and to let you know our woes. This is the low version and fits our VW T5 Transporter with Fiamma F45s awning rail perfectly.Ĭonfirming my suspicions, the Vango Drive-Away Awning Bedroom clips straight in to all the fixing points and is a great additional extra.Ī “Kador” and “Fig 8” strip is required if you are using an awning rail and are wishing to drive away without taking the tent down. It comes with plenty hard rock metal pegs, a pump with pressure gauge and various options to attach it to your van. The groundsheet clips in to all the provided hooks and stays in place, there is a fly net on one of the main side doors (but not the others) and the material is listed 150 Denier Fabric (the Vango is 420 Denier Fabric). We are very impressed with the quality and attention to detail of the Lichfield California Drive-Away Air Awning. Here’s a video showing us putting up the awning for the first time – It was a breeze! It’s a very quiet site with immaculate facilities and a site we know well due to us having a seasonal pitch there in 2010. On the May Bank Holiday weekend we travelled down to our favourite spot on Willingcott Caravan Club Site (in Woolacombe, North Devon). I quickly purchased it and it was delivered the next day. No wonder I couldn’t find this on any other website. After reading the other reviews I contacted AMG Customer Services (who own the brands Vango and Lichfield) and they confirmed that this was a special made exclusively for Amazon. This product puzzled me, It looks very similar to the older model Vango Kela III but at half the price (Amazons prices fluctuate).

After a bit of an online search I came across the Lichfield California Drive-Away Air Awning. The search started with the popular (and expensive) models on the market today and we love the design of the Vango Kela but couldn’t justify the £600+ price tag. Recently, we’ve started struggling with the kids sleeping in the popup roof of the campervan due to them getting larger! so we decided to look around for an air awning with the ability to add an inner bedroom. We’ve been using the Quechua Base Seconds XL as an awning for a number of years and were happy with the large living space it provided.
